Corporate Challenge Racing Series
Rules for Races

TEAM DIVISIONS/ELIGIBILITY

  1. Divisions are based on the number of employees at all locations in Middle Tennessee and the number of runners entered. There are generally 5 Divisions (A, B, C, D, E).
  2. An effort is made to keep the number of teams in each division balanced for each race. The number of divisions in all types of races will always depend on the number of teams entering and the number of runners per team. The objective is to structure the divisions to provide corporate and individual awards for all participants.
  3. All team entrants must be employees receiving benefits or retirees.
  4. Regular part time employees receiving benefits are also eligible.

REGISTRATION (assumes there are 5 divisions)

  1. Teams will be assigned to an A, B, C, D, or E Division.
  2. The team captain must submit a Team Entry Roster by email to Larry Wallace or other designated person 8 DAYS before race day in order for the team to participate. This roster is available on this website by clicking the Registration Roster button.
  3. After the roster is submitted, runners can be added or deleted up until 48 hours before the race.
  4. Runners must enter as an individual runner and are also eligible for individual awards.
  5. The Team Entry Roster does not enter the individual in the race. It is only used to code a "registered runner" to the team.
  6. Active.com and hardcopy entry forms may or may not have a space for Team registration and Team name. If they do, please have all team runners fill this section out. If not, enter the team name and # on the hardcopy entry forms.
  7. Team Number: Each runner must enter his or her company team number on the registration to be included on the teams. Click the Team Number button for a team number list. If your team has never participated in these races, you will need to have a number assigned. Contact Larry Wallace.
  8. The name on the Team Entry Roster must match exactly the name on the individual's race entry form.
  9. Companies may enter and pay for their Team as a group, but must arrange with race officials to do this before race day.
  10. Teams must have at least 3 registered runners to enter a team.
  11. Teams are assigned to divisions based on the number of runners on each roster. The division a team is placed in and the number of scoring runners for each division can be different in one race than in another race. Different races will have different numbers of teams, and teams may have different runners in different races.
  12. Team Fees - None.

SCORING

5K

  1. Enter unlimited runners, but only a portion will score. The number of scoring runners per race can vary. This is an example.
  2. Each runner scores points based on how they place in their age group in the overall race.
  3. Add up the lowest 3 , 5 , or 7 runners and lowest total wins.
  4. The scoring is done by race officials .
  5. Results by team will be posted on the Nashville Striders website.
  6. Tie breaker - team that has the highest place finish in any age group. If still tied, the next highest place finish.

1/2 Marathon

Same rules as 5K, plus:

  1. Teams will only need 3 runners to score, in all Divisions.
  2. More runners may be entered but the 3 with the best age group places will be added together to determine the team score.

AWARDS

  1. 1st, 2nd, 3rd place team awards in each of the 5 Team categories.
  2. Medals with ribbons to each scoring runner for 1st, 2nd, 3rd for all Team Categories - A, B, C, D, E.
  3. Division awards may be expanded to 4th and 5th places based on the number of companies.
  4. Teams with fewer finishers than the number of "scoring runners" required will be awarded last place in their division. (For instance, this may happen if a team submits 8 runners on their roster, is assigned to a division requiring 6 runners to score, yet the team only has 5 runners finish.)
  5. Teams with only 1 runner finishing will not be eligible for an award.
